Jesus Isn't Tame

We do not serve a weak and passive God.

How do most people imagine Jesus's return? A gentle arrival on soft clouds, radiating peace and serenity?

Think again.

The Bible paints a very different picture—a powerful, awe-inspiring, and even terrifying return.

In Revelation 19, we are introduced to the true image of Jesus' second coming. Not as a meek lamb, but as a conquering King riding a white horse.

This is a moment of divine judgment and triumph, where the King of Kings comes to set all things right.

His eyes blaze like fire—symbolizing His all-seeing judgment and righteous anger against sin.

His head bears many crowns, representing His ultimate authority over all kingdoms and powers.

And His robe dipped in blood, speaks of the victory He has won and the judgment He is about to execute.

On His robe and His thigh is written a name: 'King of Kings and Lord of Lords.' This declaration leaves no doubt about who He is—the supreme ruler, the one who reigns above all earthly and heavenly powers.

A sharp sword comes from His mouth, representing the Word of God. It is by this sword—His truth and judgment—that He strikes down nations.

This is not a peaceful return; this is a reckoning against the forces of evil.

CONSIDER THIS:

What type of confidence does it give you to know Jesus is on your side?

When life seems chaotic and out of our control, we take solace in knowing that we don’t serve a tame God. We remember the iconic line from Chronicles of Narnia, when Susan asked if Aslan, The Lion, was safe.

“‘Safe?’ said Mr. Beaver …’Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King.’”

Our God isn’t tame. He can’t be contained.

Jesus is our Almighty God. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the One who holds the universe together and can tame the seas.

He isn’t safe… But he is good.

He’s redeemed us and called us his friends. And, He gives us the opportunity to share in his victory.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
